Where the last time I was amazed to see the lovely calendar the Hula project has coming up, I now found http://www.zimbra.com/ , which has a complete groupware project too, with a very interactive interface. Check out the flash demo, ignore the buzz words and look at the neat tricks they pull. This is certainly Web 5.0 (yes, you heard it here first

Rejoice all ye people, for thou are not longer bound to MSN messenger, AIM or whatever other proprietary protocol to talk to your friends.
Google has announced yet another of their 'beta' services, http://talk.google.com. It is a jabber based service, which makes it easy to talk with people on every platform. Google also launched their own client for Win32 only so far, which, as an extra, has real voice support, a'la Skype etc. Hopefully clients supporting the voice part on other platforms will appear soonish too. If you want to talk to me, I'm datadevil on gmail.com. |

Hula is getting a new web interface, and it kicks ass, as this (flash) demo shows: http://nat.org/2005/august/hula.html
Can't wait to check out the javascript and CSS that powers all that AJAX interaction and css fades. Pay attention to the sides of the calendar, where it kinda disapears using probably a layer with a transparent gif or png. UPDATE: there is a new movie, showing that it already looks even nicer: http://primates.ximian.com/~gasman/hulavideo.html |

I found this site with awful programming examples, some really make you feel ashamed of your fellow technology workers, and the thought of them probably being high paid 'professionals' quite often makes it only more depressing; http://www.thedailywtf.com/ .
